LANCE Franklin and Patrick Dangerfield were huge and Ross Lyon was back in his role as SuperCoach villain. Who stood up and who flopped in the second week of finals?

PATRICK Dangerfield made a welcome return to AFL action, and Lance Franklin made a well-timed SuperCoach comeback in the second week of league finals.

But Max Gawn had a massive stinker just when we needed him most and Ross Lyon is again playing the role of SuperCoach villain.

Scroll down for all our studs and duds from Round 21.

BAROMETER: FULL INJURY LIST AND SELECTION ANALYSIS

THE TACKLE: TOBY GREENE DEBATE IS GOOD FOR FOOTY

RUN HOME: JAY CLARK RATES YOUR TEAM’S CHANCES

GWS GIANTS 105 d WESTERN BULLDOGS 57

GIANTS STUDS: Josh Kelly is in the top 10 players for points-scored this year after his 132 on Friday night — not bad for a player who started the year valued at $473,800. He was one of six Giants over 100 including Zac Wiliams, Dylan Shiel and Jon Patton.

GIANTS DUDS: Steve Johnson (62) says he needs a rest. Heath Shaw (75) did just enough to avoid this category.

DOGS STUDS: Just two Dogs in three figures: Marcus Bontempelli and Bob Murphy. It falls away pretty badly after that.

DOGS DUDS: Talk about chocolates to boiled lollies. Fresh off 162 points against Brisbane last week Jack Macrae managed only 61, his lowest score since Round 5, 2015. Mitch Wallis was a good SuperCoach option not long ago but scored just 37 and Luke Dahlhaus scored 66 and copped a boot in the face — his SuperCoach owners know how it feels.

SYDNEY 143 d FREMANTLE 39

SWANS STUDS: Nice to have you back, Buddy. After three down weeks Lance Franklin was back in a big way with a season-high 164 against the hapless Dockers. Handy timing. Isaac Heeney, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe were all great and you’d be happy with any of the 12 Swans who scored 90 or more.

SWANS DUDS: Nic Newman was having a very quiet day even before he wrenched his knee, hobbling off with just 24 points.

DOCKERS STUDS: Hats off to Nat Fyfe and Matt Taberner who managed to score over 100 in a 104-point drubbing. Sean Darcy (99) was good ruck cover for Brodie Grundy or Jarrod Witts.

DOCKERS DUDS: Everyone else? Ross Lyon continued his anti-SuperCoach policy by playing Lachie Neale at full-forward for most of the second half. He finished with just 44 points and Luke Ryan had a stinky 32.

GEELONG 80 d RICHMOND 66

CATS STUDS: Nice to have you back, too, Paddy! After a week off to freshen up, Patrick Dangerfield resumed where he left off with a game-high 141 points. Harry Taylor starred as a forward with 110 and Zach Tuohy produced a finals-worthy 105.

CATS DUDS: More than 16,000 coaches still have James Parsons, and there’s every chance he was on the field this week given injury and suspension issues. So his team-low 30 points wasn’t great.

TIGER STUDS: Need a cheap in-form midfielder? Dion Prestia is under $400k and has scored 124 and 126 the past two weeks. Nick Vlastuin (115) was excellent and Dustin Martin’s perfectly respectable 108 was his lowest score for five weeks.

TIGER DUDS: Josh Caddy’s day started brightly with an early goal then ended minutes later with a hamstring injury and just 14 SuperCoach points. Toby Nankervis scored 61, just four more than Ivan Soldo.

BRISBANE LIONS 142 d GOLD COAST 84

LIONS STUDS: It would take a brave coach to pick Dayne Beams given his injury history but he has hit a hot patch of form, scoring 138 against the Suns for 32 disposals and four goals. Speaking of well-timed SuperCoach comebacks, Tom Rockliff booted three to go with his 24 touches to post 125. Stef Martin and Lewis Taylor were even better.

LI ONS DUDS: Just 34 for Cedric Cox but a bigger problem for SuperCoaches was Dayne Zorko’s 78, surprisingly low in such a big win.

SUNS STUDS: Jack Martin, Aaron Hall and David Swallow (remember him?) all impressed stand-in coach Dean Solomon. Dan Currie (94) is doing OK as a fill-in ruckman.

SUNS DUDS: Callum Ah Chee and Jack Scrimshaw both finished with fewer than 20 points and Jack Bowes (31) hasn’t lived up to pre-season expectation.

Matt Crouch is in red-hot form for the Crows.

ADELAIDE 123 d ESSENDON 80

CROWS STUDS: Matt Crouch is the form SuperCoach player of the competition, scoring 139 on Saturday night making it 11 in a row over 100 and an average of 133 in his past four. Rory Atkins was the topscoring Rory of the week with 130 and Rory Sloane posted 92.

CROWS DUDS: Eddie Betts missed the party completely, managing just 34 points. Hugh Greenwood crashed back to earth with 59, which wasn’t ideal.

BOMBER STUDS: Michael Hurley reinforced his status as a premium option down back with a team-high 120. David Zaharakis (103) was the only other Bomber above 100.

BOMBER DUDS: Dyson Heppell’s run of form ended abruptly with 59 points.

MELBOURNE 96 d ST KILDA 72

DEMONS STUDS: Cam Pedersen showed he’s more than a fill-in for Max Gawn with a game-high 137 points. Nathan Jones pumped out 128 points and Michael Hibberd made 51,000 owners happy with 107. Clayton Oliver didn’t seem to do all that much but still scored 106.

DEMON DUDS: Gawn put in a terribly timed shocker with just two hitouts to advantage and five frees against in his dismal 56-point return.

SAINTS STUDS: Jack Billings and Dylan Roberton both topped the ton and Billy Longer (108) won his duel with Gawn hands-down.

SAINTS DUDS: Koby Stevens concussed himself running into Angus Brayshaw, ending his day with a hint of irony and 17 points. Seb Ross couldn’t hit the side of a barn for much of the day and finished with 61.

HAWTHORN 116 d NORTH MELBOURNE 89

HAWKS STUDS: Has Jack Gunston’s move to defence come too late for him to earn dual-position status next year? Let’s home not because he’s on fire, scoring 124 yesterday and averaging 107 over the past five. Nine Hawks scored over 100 including a farewell 109 from Luke Hodge. Tom Mitchell’s 106 was OK.

HAWKS DUDS: Ryan Schoenmakers, Teia Miles and Tim O’Brien were all under 40.

KANGAROOS STUDS: Luke McDonald and Robbie Tarrant just scraped into three figures and a 95 from Shaun Higgins was pretty good.

KANGAROOS DUDS: Todd Goldstein has fallen off a cliff. He had four disposals yesterday and a team-low 32 points.

Ben McEvoy outpoints Todd Goldstein in Launceston.

PORT ADELAIDE 98 d COLLINGWOOD 71

POWER STUDS: Jasper Pittard turned back the clock, topscoring with 111 ahead of Paddy Ryder and Charlie Dixon who both scored 102. You would take 97 from Chad Wingard.

POWER DUDS: A pretty even Port performance with no massive scores and no real shockers either. No one has Brendon Ah Chee, do they?

MAGPIE STUDS: Taylor Adams was huge, taking his season average to 108 — clearly the No. 2 ranked defender for the season — with 138 points. Steele Sidebottom scored 122 and Adam Treloar and one-time rookie star Tom Langdon both topped 100.

MAGPIE DUDS: Six Pies under 50 (compared to one for Port), which tells the story. Jarryd Blair was bottom of the pile with 31.
