That might not be a big shock given the current AFL ladder, but the crash of Hawthorn in SuperCoach could tell us something the “real” ladder doesn’t.
Last year Hawthorn players scored more SuperCoach points than any other club — after Round 6 this year the Hawks rank ninth.

Sam Mitchell is the only Hawk averaging above 100 points a game (111) and he could manage only a season-low 70 as the premier was steamrolled by GWS — which had an incredible 11 players score in triple figures.
Josh Gibson scored 74 on Saturday and has a season average of 99.8, largely on the back of his 191 in Round 2.
Jordan Lewis has slumped from a 103 average last year to 83, Luke Hodge is down from 108 to 72, Liam Shiels had a 97-point average last year but is tracking at 60 this season and Isaac Smith is 12 points down.
If you picked those guys at the start of the year you’re in a world of pain. For the rest of the SuperCoach world there are some tantalising bargains on offer — if you think they can bounce back.
Not sure you would be saying the same about the Dockers and Tigers, who have fallen through the floor in terms of SuperCoach scoring. Freo has tumbled from fourth on last year’s SuperCoach points ladder to dead last and Richmond has plunged from third to 12th.
On the other side of the coin, Geelong has surged from 15th to third. The Cats can thank the arrival of Patrick Dangerfield (the No. 2 scoring player in SuperCoach behind Luke Parker) and the revival of Joel Selwood (avg 117) who is putting a poor 2015 in the rear-view mirror.
The Giants (eighth to second) and Crows (14th to sixth) are the other surging stocks. The Crows no longer rely on one player with Rory Sloane (103), Scott Thompson (101), Eddie Betts (100) Rory Laird (97) all averaging above 95.

The ruck division has been the make or break position for SuperCoach in many rounds this year and this week was no different but with very different names involved. While Todd Goldstein, Stefan Martin and (to a lesser extent) Max Gawn struggled, Sam Jacobs played by far his best game of the year and Zac Smith returned to his best against his old team. Dale Thomas turned back the clock to his 2011 form and making Luke Parker captain was a smart move.

He found plenty of the ball, racking up a career-high 44 disposals and also recorded 26 uncontested possessions, three clearances and gained 690m for the match — the most of any player on the ground. CHAMPION DATA MARKET WATCH
Luke Parker
Parker’s stellar season continued against Brisbane after he added a further 151 SuperCoach points to his season tally. He thrived in the wet, finishing with 29 disposals, 16 contested possessions, nine tackles and a combined nine inside 50/rebound 50s. He also hit the scoreboard, booting three goals straight.
Dale Thomas

He hit the target with 81 per cent of 31 disposals, also recording 14 contested possessions, 17 uncontested possessions, seven tackles and four inside-50s. Thomas also chipped in with one goal and was involved in eight scoring chains.
Michael Barlow
Barlow stepped up in the absence of Nat Fyfe and attended a season-high 20 centre bounce stoppages. He recorded 33 disposals, 15 contested possessions, eight clearances, eight tackles and three score assists from 86 per cent game time. Barlow’s 134 SuperCoach points were a season-high tally, enjoying a $29,100 price rise in the process.
YOUNG GUN: CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Petracca showed glimpses of his talent on debut against St Kilda, finishing with 16 disposals, nine contested possessions, two clearances and 69 SuperCoach points from 77 per cent game time. He also pumped the ball inside 50 on six occasions, recording five score assists and a team-high three score involvements. Petracca was also involved in five scoring chains.
