Fremantle fielded a side that was barely recognisable to the team they fielded in Round 23 last season.
Suddenly under new coach Justin Longmuir they are increasingly relevant in KFC SuperCoach with a pair of recruits and some emerging youngsters playing key roles against the Blues.
The hitout also marked Sam Docherty’s first competitive match in more than 900 days and thankfully he got through it unscathed, showing trademarks of his elite rebounding game.
For Carlton it was Rising Star winner Sam Walsh who led the way, showing no signs of second year blues, finishing as the Blues’ topscorer with 100 points.
While for the Dockers it was James Aish – currently in less than one per cent of teams – who posted an imposing total in his first game for the club.
