Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury can join the AFL’s elite 400-game club, according to Herald Sun reporter Jay Clark.
Pendlebury will play his 350th game on Saturday against Adelaide, and he is leading the Magpies’ surprise charge up the ladder this season at 34 years of age.
Clark said on this week’s episode of KFC SuperFooty TV that Pendlebury rated second at Collingwood for score assists and plays a key role in Craig McRae’s game plan as he patrols the centre square.
“He is still playing at an incredible level, his kick rating – he is the fourth-best kick in the competition,” Clark said.

Clark said the lure of potentially playing in a second premiership would entice Pendlebury to keep playing.
“He’s already won a flag, imagine if he can get there was this young brigade.
“I think he can play 400, he’s just so smart and so efficient.”

And Clark also revealed Pendlebury’s extreme levels of dedication were laid bare in a phone call over summer, months out from the start of the season.
“He thinks a mandarin is a dessert, that’s his dedication,” Clark said, laughing.
“I was tucking into my second litre of ice-cream and he’s thinking, ‘Should I eat this mandarin?’.”
Co-host Jack Watts said he was in awe of the Magpies captain, who had a huge influence both on and off the field.
Watts revealed he spoke to Pendlebury about a possible move to Collingwood before joining Port Adelaide in 2017.
“Just to hear from him that he thought he would want me on his team was pretty special.”
But he joked Pendlebury’s longevity had its downside.
“He’s in our Monday night basketball team ... it would be nice if he could come down for a few games.”
