Is master coach Alastair Clarkson the man to turn North Melbourne around?
The four-time Hawthorn premiership mentor will be in demand when he decides to return to the coaches box, with GWS already searching for its next senior coach.
The Kangaroos are standing by David Noble but after one win in the first 10 rounds and with rumblings about his coaching style and problems in upper management that led to three recruiters quitting this week, some are openly asking how long he will last in the job.
Before he became a legendary coach, Clarkson played 93 games for North Melbourne from 1987-95, then 41 for Melbourne before retiring at the end of 1997.

“I think North Melbourne are a real mess,” Herald Sun reporter Jay Clark said on a new episode of KFC SuperFooty TV.
“I think it’s time for the Kangaroos to really ask some hard questions about what’s happening at the top ranks of the footy club.
“Do they have the expertise and the acumen? It’s worrying all the stuff you hear about David Noble.
“Tell me if I’m wrong here, but as a former North Melbourne player and a coaching great, is Alastair Clarkson not just the absolute, obvious candidate? It’s he’s perfect for Gold Coast, why is he not favourite for North Melbourne?”

With Stewart Dew in winning form at Gold Coast and Brett Ratten likely to re-sign at St Kilda, there might not be many jobs to choose from if Clarkson does decide to throw his hat in the ring.
“If you’re North Melbourne, how do you go and convince Alastair Clarkson this is an opportunity he can’t miss?
“I just feel it is on the Kangaroos to go and get Clarko.”
