Which clubs could be in the running for Magpies star and deep thinker Brodie Grundy? Get an update on the AFL trade landscape.

Superstar ruckman Brodie Grundy could have a number of new clubs to pick from if he decides to leave Collingwood.

Herald Sun reporter Jay Clark provided an update on some of the biggest fish in this year’s trade pool in this week’s episode of KFC SuperFooty TV.

And he said Grundy’s future is very much in play despite the ruckman being contracted to 2027 on a deal worth about $1 million per season.

A return to his home state of South Australia or to GWS have been mooted, but Clark said the list of suitors could be much longer.

“I reckon there’s a lot to play out here,” he said.

“I think a lot of clubs will want to talk to him.

“You look at Geelong, they’ve had some ruck issues over the journey, would Geelong look at Brodie Grundy? I know they’re interested in Tim Taranto.

“What about Melbourne? They’re losing Luke Jackson, could they look at him?

“I don’t think Brodie Grundy is going to say ‘I’m going home to SA or ‘I’m going to GWS’, he’s the kind of guy, I think, who will go ‘OK, let me canvass the field, what is my best landing spot here’.

“Reading between the lines I wouldn’t be confident of him staying at Collingwood next year.”

Clark said exciting Gold Coast forward Izak Rankine is one player who could be headed home.

“I’m expecting him to be at Adelaide next year on a really big offer to jazz up the Crows forward line,” Clark said.

And he added Chad Wingard could finish his career at a third club after moving from Port Adelaide to Hawthorn in a blockbuster trade in 2018.

“It probably hasn’t worked out (at Hawthorn) ... GWS had a crack at Wingard last year, if you wanted him I reckon you could get him in this year’s trade period.”
