Former Demon Jack Watts says Max Gawn is the competition, ranking him above triple Norm Smith Medallist Dustin Martin.
Speaking on the first episode of KFC SuperFooty TV, Watts — who retired at the end of last season after 174 games at Melbourne and Port Adelaide — said he was in awe of how far Gawn had come since arriving at the Dees as a skinny kid in the 2009 national draft.

“It’s just incredible to see, first of all the player he is — he’s the best player in the competition in my eyes,” Watts said.
Questioned by co-host Michael Warner about the Martin comparison, Watts said Gawn was the key to Melbourne’s fortunes in 2021.
“(He’s) probably the most important in terms of what he does for his club.”
“The ruckman is a pretty tough spot to fill.”
Watts also opened up about his first AFL game, when he was targeted by Collingwood, and the pair gave their tips for every game of Round 1 and named their footy personalities of the week.
