THE zigzagging recent media career of James Brayshaw is set for another twist with the one-time Test batting aspirant set to call for Fox Footy next season.

Brayshaw, who was recently dumped from Channel 9’s cricket commentary, is said to be keen to pursue more work on the screen to go with his current calling duties with Triple M.

THE ferocity of attacks from its listening audience has said to have taken aback those that made the recent decision to sack RSN breakfast hosts Michael Christian and Mick McGuane.

The object of their derision is station management, led by “the man who doesn’t return phone calls” in general manager Denis Stirton and journeyman program manager John Thwaites.

The pair are yet to announce their 2017 team although Daniel Harford is favoured to host with Jason Richardson, who has steadfastly denied any involvement, and Adam White sharing co-hosting duties.

SPORTS station SEN is committed to a fair dinkum crack at snatching ratings after 12 years of rolling along at a non-threatening level.

Part of their revamp could include the appointment of America’s Cup-winning skipper John Bertrand as chairman, a proposed appointment that would hopefully open up doors at the big end of town.

THE magnanimous attitude of Bill Brownless towards Garry Lyon, as highlighted in this newspaper last weekend, didn’t extend to the sport of kings.

The once high-flying Geelong full forward, who said he was open to meeting with Lyon, was part of a table at the traditional Call of the Card at Crown Casino.

When one member suggested they pool their funds and back the Matthew Cumani-trained Galileo stallion Grey Lion, “Puffing Billy” consumed the tip and replied in the negative, declaring he wouldn’t be putting his on a horse bearing a name that could be abbreviated to “G. Lion”.

So Brownless got his way and persuaded the group to back another horse. Its name? Almandin.

ON the subject of Garry Lyon, his return to SEN breakfast, 12 years after he helped launch the station, will not be coming cheaply.

Melbourne’s first all-sports station recognises the vital nature of a strong-rating start to the day (a la 3AW’s Ross Stevenson/John Burns) and are prepared to pay to try and acquire a rating that at least begins with a 5.

So if that means shelling out north of $350,000 for Lyon then so be it.

Garry Lyon will be well paid by SEN.

INTERESTING workplace conversation during the week surrounding the Western Bulldogs, one that suggested Marcus Adams, Travis Cloke, Stewart Crameri, Lin Jong, Robert Murphy, Matthew Suckling and Mitch Wallis would all be genuine Round 1 inclusions to the side that won this year’s flag.

Plus they expect Kieran Collins, Bailey Dale, Declan Hamilton, Mitch Honeychurh, Jack Redpath, Lukas Webb and Bailey Williams to play seniors at some stage.

It makes the TAB’s $6 for a back-to-back flag seriously appetising.

MOST of us would give our left something to own a horse that won over the four-day Flemington Cup Carnival.

But not one owner of a highly promising young victor at headquarters.

Rather than being elated with the win, and not to mention the stud value it added, the none-too-pleased owner wanted an explanation from the trainer as to why the horse had settled in a running position contrary to what was expected.

INTERESTING face spotted when Essendon began their pre-season training last Monday. Watching with part of the coaching squad was none other than Greg “Diesel” Williams who has been employed by John Worsfold and the club to work as a development coach for two-three days a week.
