THE RSN Sports Heaven breakfast team of Michael Christian and Mick McGuane were this morning told their contracts would not be renewed next year.
Their axing comes as a surprise given the inroads seen to be made by the program in 2016 following a major overhaul over summer. It’s believed the pair were told they could see out the year, but preferred to end up this Friday in the belief they may struggle to contain their disappointment at the decision.
Their replacements haven’t been named but Daniel Harford, who currently co-hosts drive at SEN, and racing broadcaster Jason Richardson have both been sounded out by RSN management. Richardson has been steadfast in denying he will join RSN.
Harford’s future at SEN is clouded with David Schwarz expected to return to drive given the soon to be announced appointment of Garry Lyon and Hamish McLachlan to host the Breakfast show.
Should Harford move to RSN, then Adam White may become his on-air partner. White currently calls football for the ABC and works as a contributor for RSN.
RSN general manager Denis Stirton refused to return a call this morning, as he has done over the past four days. And Christian and McGuane were unavailable for comment.
