The order for this year’s AFL national draft has been locked in following Geelong’s premiership triumph on Saturday.

The Cats have the last selection of the first round – currently pick 18 – after winning their first premiership since 2011.

While Sydney was left shattered by an 81-point Grand Final loss at the MCG, it is not all bad news for the Swans.

They hold two picks in the first round of the draft – currently picks 14 and 17 – having secured Melbourne’s first selection as part of the Jordan Dawson trade last year.

Sydney is currently the only team with two first-round picks this year.

The final draft order is expected to change significantly before the first round of the draft is held on November 28, with clubs having their eye on what shapes as a busy trade period where players and picks will change hands.

The trade period runs from October 3 to October 12.
