On the weekend however it was a Channel 9 reporter who delivered the most brutal troll the show may ever have witnessed.
As Jones talked up the upcoming Big Freeze at the MCG in support of MND, he crossed down to Geelong’s fundraising slide where Nathan Currie was reporting.
As Currie appeared on the screen he was wearing an old Wide World of Sports jacket with a brown toupee on top of his head.
Topping off the get-up however was Currie donning a hilariously large fake set of teeth.
Jones couldn’t even finish his cross before his fellow panel members broke out into fits of laughter.
But Currie wasn’t done just with the outfit of dressing up as Jones, he unleashed some brutal jabs in the direction of the media veteran.
“I’m dressed as my fearless boss Tony Jones,” Currie said.
“You don’t like my haircut on a good day, this doesn’t really fit me but make up assured me this was one of your toupees Tone.”

The stinging clip sent the panel into meltdown as Jones was left to shake his head.
“So in the space of 15 seconds we’ve gone my hair, my guts, my teeth, is there any other body parts you want to take a look at?” Jones asked.
Currie didn’t miss a beat: “I’ve got black shoes with brown chinos thanks Tone.”
Fellow journalist Damien Barrett was lapping it up and urging Currie to continue on with the hilarious jabs.
“I’ve been channelling you all morning Tone. I picked up a bucket of KFC on the freeway because I know how much you love the dirty bird,” Currie said.
“I know you prefer it in a food court but the freeway did the job.”
It was then that Currie unleashed his cruellest shot of all as he referenced the infamous moment Jones was awkwardly snubbed by Rebecca Judd.
“Look at the pool that I’ll be sliding down very soon, we’re filling it up right now.
“We’ve got over 300 bags of ice … it looks like it’s going to be colder than the shoulder Bec Judd gave you Tony, there is so much ice going in there.”
The remark sent Jones flying back into his chair as laughter broke out across the panel with Kane Cornes left slapping the desk.
While the rest of the Sunday Footy Show panel ate up what Currie was dishing out, Jones was left unimpressed by the display.
“That reference alone (to Bec Judd) guarantees he’ll be getting all the crappy jobs for a while,” Jones said.
Despite appearing to be taken aback by the troll job, Jones said the ribbing from Currie was “one of the funniest things I’ve seen”.
“I thought it was one of the funniest things I’ve seen … and had I not been on the receiving end of Nathan’s roast I would’ve found it funnier! We sometimes, in the football media, take ourselves too seriously … so, good on him,” Jones said to the Herald Sun.
