The Brisbane Lions showed they mean business in 2020 after a dominating display on Saturday afternoon against the GWS Giants.
From the opening bounce to the final siren, the Lions looked the far superior outfit as they ran away to claim the 13.10 (88) to 10.8 (68) victory.

The win takes the Lions to 5-2 on the season and bumps them up into second spot on the ladder, behind Port Adelaide.
After bursting into the premiership race in 2019, they look to have taken another leap this time around and have now won five of their past six games.
In a game that was touted as a potential Grand Final preview, it was one-way traffic for the Lions as they burst out of the blocks kicking the first four goals of the contest.
The Giants fought back valiantly in the second and third quarters, but simply couldn’t overcome the Lions desire around the contest.
A sticking point with the Lions has been their inability to win on the road, but dismantling GWS at their home ground shows they’re ready for the next step and puts the competition on notice.

The Giants remained in the contest at three quarter time after closing the margin down to 13 points, but it was all Brisbane in the final quarter as they kicked three goals before the Giants kicked two in the dying stages to make the score look respectable.
After losing the 2019 AFL Grand Final, the Giants have struggled in 2020 and currently sit in 11th spot on the ladder at 3-4.
Next weekend they’ll take on the team who ended their premiership hopes when they line-up against Richmond at Giants Stadium.
Brisbane will look to keep marching on when they return to Queensland and take on Melbourne on Sunday evening.
