Geelong has locked in three key players before the AFLW trade period including reliable defender Claudia Gunjaca.
Gunjaca, 27, has been rewarded for a strong past two seasons with a three-year extension, while winger Zali Friswell and Irish defender Rachel Kearns have signed until the end of 2026.
Geelong assistant football boss Brett Johnson said he was thrilled to see the trio extend their time at the club.
“They are all great teammates and valuable members of our playing squad on and off the field,” Johnson said.
“Claudia, Rachel and Zali are a part of our core group who have played together for the last few seasons. To be able to secure them along with others longer term is exciting, and we can’t wait to see that group to continue build and play some great football in 2025 and beyond.”
Gunjaca has played 39 games for the Cats since joining club as a mature-age recruit from their VFL program, with a move into defence seeing her blossom.
Kearns has also relished a switch down back, enjoying a career best season off halfback this year.
Friswell, the seventh pick in the 2021 draft, had a strong 2024 campaign, averaging career highs for disposals and tackles.
The signings come after the Cats won the race for Australian volleyballer Catie Tippie and re-signed All-Australian sensation Aishling Moloney for three years.
The AFLW trade period begins tomorrow with Sydney well placed to land Cats midfielder Darcy Moloney.
