Geelong forward Shelley Scott will play on into an 10th AFLW season, Scott one of several Cats to earn one-year extensions this week.
Cats skipper Meghan McDonald will also remain in hoops in 2025, as will Kate Darby, Kate Surman, Melissa Bragg, Gabbi Featherston and Caitlin Thorne.
Scott, who turns 37 in March, was the first Cat to reach the 75-game milestone during the 2024 AFLW season, after spending her first six seasons in the league at Melbourne.
Meanwhile, McDonald will close in on the 75-game mark next season, having played 70 games, 66 off which have been at Geelong, while Darby brought up 50 games in 2024.
Geelong assistant football boss Brett Johnson said each of the seven re-signings playing important roles in the Cats’ 2024 campaign.
“Meghan has been an outstanding leader for us for many years, while Kate Darby, Shelley and Kate Surman all bring valuable experience and leadership to our squad.
“It was exciting to see the continued development of Gabbi and Mel.
“Although coming into our program late in the piece as a replacement player, Caitlin was also impressive with the way she handled her first season in the AFLW.
“With a good mix of experience, youth and potential, were excited to see all seven players pull the Hoops on again in 2025.”
The Cats have one open list spot heading into the 2025 season, after Caitie Tipping joined the club as a rookie signing and Alexis Gregor, Sienna Tallariti and Piper Dunlop were selected in last month’s AFLW draft.
