The mother of Collingwood debutant Trey Ruscoe just keeps coming up with the goods.

Fiona went viral earlier in the week for her brilliant reaction to the Pies star telling his mum he was going to play his first AFL game against the Swans on Thursday night.

Not realising the call was being filmed, Fiona reacted with a shocked “f*** off” before roasting her offspring by asking if he was only getting a game because everyone else in the team had fallen over.

She cemented her cult status on Friday morning in a hilarious radio interview where she revealed she missed Trey’s first goal at the highest level because she was having a smoke.

Fiona hosted 30 people at her place in Western Australia for Trey’s big occasion, which she said made it difficult to actually watch the game, and woke up feeling “a little bit dusty”.

“I didn’t see the actual goal because I was out the back and everyone started screaming when he marked it,” Fiona told footy legends Garry Lyon and Tim Watson on SEN Breakfast.

“So I came running in just as the ball was going through the goalposts. I didn’t actually see what happened before that and I haven’t had a chance to go back and watch a replay.

“It looked good and we were all celebrating.”

Asked how she could possibly have missed her son’s first goal in the AFL, Fiona added sheepishly: “I was just having a little smoke.

“I’m trying to give up so I was just having a quick durry out the back. Don’t tell Trey!

“There’s that many videos of it. I won’t miss it, will I?”

Fiona was thrilled Collingwood won, the Pies securing a 6.14 (50) to 6.5 (41) victory. But she reckons the margin could have been even greater had Trey taken her advice.

“I’m happy that they won but if he’d listened to his mum and gone out and practised his kicking in the day instead of going to the beach with Brodie (Grundy), he may have kicked more goals,” Fiona said.

Trey was on cloud nine after his debut, calling it the “best experience of my lifetime”, and he even managed a sledge of his own towards his mum when asked about her viral fame.

“She doesn’t deserve it,” he joked. “She’s a bit of a character. She’s always been like that and that’s the reason I love her.

“It’s awesome.”
