IS Jake Lever’s expected move to Melbourne on the rocks?
With a week still to go before the AFL trade period officially starts, it’s being reported bad blood between Adelaide and the Demons could scupper the move.
Lever - a stud intercept defender - has been hotly pursued by several clubs all season but Melbourne had emerged as the rumoured destination.

The Demons own pick No.10 in this year’s draft but that is unlikely to satisfy the Crows on its own.
Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes suggested negotiations are already rocky between the clubs.
“There is a bit of bad blood between Melbourne and the Adelaide Football Club,” he told AFL Trade Radio.
“They have been negotiating this deal behind the scenes for three or so weeks now. Clearly, Adelaide knows that Lever is leaving and they have tried to initiate negotiations with Melbourne.
“Melbourne have got pick No.10 in the draft and that is on the table for Jake Lever. They are also willing to give a second-round draft pick as well, so 10 and 27 as it sits right now.
“Adelaide do not want to hear it. They are after two first-round draft picks for Jake Lever.”
If negotiations break down Collingwood could be quick to pounce.
According to Michelangelo Rucci, the Magpies are more inclined to part ways with two first-round draft picks.
Collingwood currently owns pick No.6 in this year’s draft and could hand over a future pick despite next year’s draft being labelled one of the strongest in recent years.
Meanwhile, Greater Western Sydney has swiftly shutdown talk of dumping Heath Shaw.
The Giants have already received trade requests from Devon Smith, Nathan Wilson and Matt Kennedy and were reportedly weighing up the futures of Shaw and Shane Mumford.
Essendon great Matthew Lloyd believed Shaw’s on-field demeanour could be an issue.
“His form really dropped off by the end of the year. GWS will be pretty savage on their list,” he told AFL Trade Radio.
“It’s amazing how brutal it can get if you lose a prelim. More savage than missing the eight.
“We’ve seen him berating teammates, but they might not like that anymore.”
However, the club tweeted on Monday morning, Shaw was going nowhere.
