The developers behind a $300m project at The Spit are turning their attention to the Gold Coast’s south.

Gordon Corp and the Mathieson family have lodged plans with the Gold Coast City Council to build a nine-storey tower in central Palm Beach.

The Jefferson Residences tower will front both Jefferson Lane and the Gold Coast Highway and will replace the Samuel Plaza shopping Centre which will be demolished.

Gordon Corp boss Tim Gordon said he hoped to fast-track the project.

“Luxury isn’t just in the location, it’s in the detail, and we’ve have been able to channel the same elevated design approach from The Mantaray into our plans for Palm Beach,” he said.

“Once this has progressed through the planning process, our intention is to break ground as swiftly as possible.”

Mr Gordon and the Mathieson family are collaborating on the Mantaray Marina and Residences which is under construction on the southern Spit.

The three-storey project broke ground earlier this year and is expected to be completed in early 2026. Bruce Mathieson Jr said the success of the first project had opened the door to the second collaboration.

“We are pleased to partner with Gordon Corp on another luxury project as we continue to redefine what it means to live on the Gold Coast,” he said.

“This project has outstanding potential and will truly stand out from the rest at its prime Palm Beach location.”

The sale of the site was brokered by Tim Jones of International real estate firm JLL Australia

Gordon Corp sales director Lara Dimond said building would have 47 units.

“Our vision for this project is to deliver a boutique development with a strong focus on wellness and liveability and we have been very deliberate in not pushing scale, or density,” Ms Dimond said.

“The building includes 450 sqm of landscaped green space, equating to 20.6% of the site.

“This focus on landscape extends to the very heart of the building itself, where a stunning atrium delivers cross ventilation and light throughout the building.

“Beyond the building itself, the beachfront is less than 60m away and the retail and dining precincts are on its doorstep. It really is a complete lifestyle offering.”
