Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

Plans have been unveiled for a 28-storey tower which will sit between a pair of tennis courts in the heart of Main Beach.

The 72-unit Bella Vie tower is earmarked for a site on Pacific Parade and will replace a 1960s-era three-storey walk-up.

It has been put forward by APG21.

A planning report lodged with council reveals how the tower will be incorporated with its two neighbouring tennis courts.

“The site benefits from an extremely unique context, being situated between two tennis courts to the north and south, which serve as part of the communal amenities for the nearby high-rise towers, Carrington Court Holiday Apartments and Pacific Views Resort,” the report reads.

“Both tennis courts are elevated substantially above natural ground level to accommodate carparking below.

“This interconnection both above and below ground ensures that the adjacent tennis courts will remain free from future development.

“In addition, the Carrington Court and Pacific Views Resort are positioned east towards Main Beach Parade, thus allowing for significant separation between the existing and proposed development and maintaining an open context that preserves view corridors for all residents.”

The existing building, which has 12 two-bedroom units, will be demolished to make way for the tower, which is one of a wave of new projects coming to the area.

More than 1200 new residents are expected to move into the suburb in the next 18 months as six key tower projects reach completion.

Among the projects rising in central Main Beach are The Monaco, Midwater, the Drift Residences and the two-tower Lagoon project.

All have reported strong sales from buyers, with Lagoon, which is being built by Drew Group, having already sold 85 per cent of its 259 units off the plan. The Cronin Ave project is rising from the ground, having already reached its fifth level.

Bella Vie will go before the council’s planning committee for approval in early 2025.
