Former Neighbours star Holly Valance once described former British Conservative minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg as prime minister material.
He’s a pro-Brexit, Nigel Farage-loving politician and a staunch critic of the “religion” of climate change.
He also believes migration should be significantly wound back and woke ideologies are nonsense.
When News Corp sat down with Sir Jacob at his lavish Westminster home, he laughed at the former Australian singer songwriters’ political appraisal.
“She’s a great lady, that’s very kind and very flattering but very unlikely (becoming PM),” he said.
“I’m not even a member of parliament, but it was very kind of her”.
Ms Valance made the comments earlier in the year when the Tories were still in office.
But in July, he lost his seat as Labour trounced the Conservatives at the general election.
Valance’s husband, Nick Candy, a self-made billionaire property mogul and long time Tory donor, defected to Reform UK in recent weeks – a party led by Mr Farage.
Sir Jacob said Reform UK was a thorn in the Tory’s side.
“The Candys are very important, – Nick’s been a very generous donor to the Conservative Party and influence within the Conservative Party – conservative donors are flirting with Reform or going to Reform, this is a problem for the Conservative Party, it would be very hard to pretend otherwise,” Sir Jacob said.
“The Conservatives are facing a bigger challenge around Reform than we have faced in our history.
“He’s (Mr Farage) a Tory and it’s a pity the right-wing vote in the UK is split”.
Both Sir Jacob and Mr Farage have their own regular TV programs they host on conservative British news channel GB News, get on well with each other and have both dabbled in reality TV.
Mr Farage previously featured in I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and Sir Jacob this month starred in his own reality TV series on Discovery, called Meet The Rees-Moggs.
The four-part series delved into the upper-class lifestyle of the mega rich businessman turned politician who remains a key ally of former British PM Boris Johnson.
“It’s always difficult watching yourself on television, I think Discovery did it very fairly, it is a true portrayal of what family life is like and it wasn’t a deliberate hatchet job, so I was very content with it,” Sir Jacob said.
“I’ve never watched the Kardashians so I thought it could cut to make me look even more ridiculous than I am, so there’s always the skill of the edit”.
When it comes to climate change he notes not only is the UK Labour government under Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer red hot on the issue, but countries are “making themselves poor in a fruitless effort to reduce emissions which the rest of the world is making up for”.
“We are shutting down our industries, importing things from people, giving off even more emissions and lowering the standard of living domestically.
“This applies in Australia because the new Labor government is very keen on the green issues and wants to suck up to the global elite, they want to have face when they go to meetings of the G20 and things like that”.
