Your guide to your fave footy team’s official face masks

Footy fans will be able to get their hands on official AFL footy club face masks from late next week – here's how to make sure you don’t miss out.

Footy fans will be able to get their hands on official AFL footy club face masks from the majority of their favourite Victorian teams from late next week.

Hawthorn and Richmond are the only two Melbourne clubs yet to put details of their branded masks on their online store.

Fans are able to pre-order face masks from Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne, Geelong, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda and North Melbourne online now, but the clubs all have varying expected delivery dates ranging between August 6-12.

While there are a wide range of footy club masks for sale online, these are the only official AFL club masks.

Richmond mum Krysia Mosley took matters into her own hands creating her own unique range of masks from outgrown uniforms from their local junior football club.

The masks were so popular the mother of six also ended up selling them to friends and neighbours.

“The kids wanted masks that were a bit different and we had old RJFC uniforms in the roof so I just cut them up to make the masks,” she says.

“This is the new fashion statement, it’s like wearing a certain type of hoody or shoes.”

The official Australian made 3-layer AFL club face masks, made from 100 per cent polyester 140gsm jersey, are available for $25.

Bulldogs fans have the added incentive in ordering their masks of receive a complimentary Josh Dunkley or Caleb Daniel Mission Bobblehead, while stock lasts.

Each of the clubs is careful to articulate the strict rules around masks on their merchandise websites.

“Please understand that our face mask covers are not a replacement for medical grade PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and in circumstances where medical grade PPE is recommended, you should consult a health care professional.”

“Please remember that use of this face mask cover is not intended to replace other recommended measures to stop the community spread of COVID-19, such as social distancing, washing your hands and refraining from touching your face.”
