WONDER DOG Wenda’s tail is wagging again.

The Cavalier King Charles spaniel mix is the first of 50 pooches to recover — one month after being surrendered to the RSPCA Victoria.

Authorities raided two Longwood properties, after reports of several malnourished animals were living there last month.

Now the spritely spaniel is up for adoption and looking for a new home.

RSPCA Victoria chief executive Dr Liz Walker said Wenda had cleared all her checks.

“Our veterinary team continue to work to ensure that all of the animals in our care have a clean bill of health, so that our adoption staff can help them find their perfect home match,” she said.

Wenda, aged seven, has undergone behavioural and veterinary checks and been desexed.

Dr Walker hoped a couple more dogs including Chinese Crested pooches were ready for adoption next week.

“At this stage it appears the other dogs surrendered to us will require additional behavioural therapy before they will be ready for adoption,” she said.

Almost 120 dogs and puppies were taken into RSPCA care following the special investigation unit operation on June 7.

Four deceased dogs were also removed from one of the properties.

Some animals were found living in faeces and urine covered cages outside, or in pens inside the house.

The RSPCA investigation into alleged animal cruelty at the two Longwood properties will continue.

Dr Walker thanked the community for donating blankets and towels to help the sick dogs.

“Those kind donations have been used to care for both the Longwood dogs and the hundreds of other animals awaiting adoption at RSPCA centres across Victoria,” she said.
