A 35-year-old man has been held on remand after a pregnant mother of two was killed when she fell out of a moving vehicle.

Keilor Downs man William Wilson, 35, was charged with dangerous driving causing death last night and is being held to appear in court on Wednesday.

It came after Helena Broadbent, 32, who was five months pregnant, died on Saturday after falling from a car outside her Keilor Downs home.

Ms Broadbent fell from the vehicle as it sped around the corner, metres from her home on Kiwi Retreat.

Neighbours say they saw a man allegedly fleeing the scene after Ms Broadbent hit the road.

A large stain of blood could be seen upon entrance to Kiwi Retreat, where the incident occurred.

The death of the much-loved mum has left her family grief stricken.

Her shocked brother Paul Broadbent said Ms Broadbent lived for her children.

“She was beautiful, gone way too early,” Mr Broadbent said. “I just can’t believe it — she loved her kids.

“She was the best sister; we had our ups and downs, but I always loved her. Best sister anyone could have.”

Ms Broadbent was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital on Saturday in a critical condition.

She delivered a baby girl via caesarean section but died later that evening.

The four-months-premature baby was fighting for its life last night.

Neighbours had heard Ms Broadbent arguing with a man before hearing the car speed off.

Neighbour Ivan Sucic said Ms Broadbent let out a horrific scream before she fell from the car.

“He jumped in the car and slammed the door when he went in,” Mr Sucic said of the man.

“I heard the woman scream. I thought she was screaming at him.

“I turned my head and I thought I saw something in the middle of the road.”

Mr Sucic then walked over to where Ms Broadbent had struck the ground and saw her distressed daughters out front of the home.

Mr Sucic told police he saw a man run from the scene wearing a dark jacket.

He said Ms Broadbent’s two children watched on in horror as paramedics treated their mother.

“When the ambulance arrived I told them she was pregnant; they did CPR on the spot,” Mr Sucic said.

“I saw bruises on her left side from the buttock to the top, she was bleeding through her nose.”

Mr Sucic has been told by Mr Broadbent that the two girls are currently in the care of their grandmother.

Mr Wilson did not attend the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court case and did not apply for bail.
