Supermarket and market opening hours
Coles: Stores open from 1pm.
Woolworths: Stores open from 1pm except Melbourne Central, Bourke St and Collins Square which will be closed.
ALDI: Stores will open with reduced trading hours
IGA: Selected stores will open after 1pm
Queen Victoria Market: Closed
South Melbourne Market: Closed
Preston Market: Closed
Footscray Market: Closed
Post offices
Australia Post has confirmed no post offices will be open on Anzac Day. No mail or parcel deliveries will take place either.

Most shopping centres open later in the day.

Public Transport
Buses
More than 50 free buses will transport people along 12 Melbourne routes, including from selected RSL’s to the Shrine of Remembrance for this year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
The free buses will collect passengers along routes starting at Chadstone, Croydon, Dandenong, Doncaster, Essendon, Greensborough, Mitcham, Mordialloc, Templestowe, Thomastown, Wantirna and Williamstown, before dropping them at the Shrine ahead of the 6am ceremony on Thursday 25 April.
People are required to book their seat on one of the wheelchair-accessible buses via the PTV website, with bookings closing at 2pm on Wednesday, 24 April.
Bookings can be made by calling 1800 800 007.
Trams
Extra trams will also run along St Kilda Road.
The City Circle and Route 30 trams will not run until 2pm due to the ANZAC Day parade.
Trains
A total of 28 extra train services will get sports fans to and from Essendon v Collingwood at the MCG and Melbourne Storm v New Zealand Warriors at AAMI Park.
An extra 14 train services will also be provided for those attending Flemington’s annual ANZAC Day races.
Trains, trams and buses will run to a public holiday timetable.
However, each metropolitan train line will provide an early ANZAC Day service to get people into the city for the Dawn Service.
Veterans and War Widows can travel for free in economy class on Victoria’s public transport network on 24, 25 and 26 April to attend ANZAC Day commemoration activities.
Free travel is also extended to Australian Defence Force members, Scouts and Guides and school students on ANZAC Day, Thursday 25 April, provided they are in uniform.
