With some calling it the best time of the year, the AFL Grand Final eve public holiday is back for 2019. From shopping centres, supermarkets and public transport, here’s everything that is open.

If you’re wondering what’s on in Melbourne during the AFL Grand Final eve public holiday then look no further.

We have all you need to know about what’s open this Friday, September 27.

SUPERMARKETS AND MARKET OPENING HOURS

Coles: Mostly normal opening hours

Woolworths: Mostly normal opening hours

Aldi: Mostly normal opening hours

Queen Victoria Market: 6am-5pm

South Melbourne Market: 8am-5pm

Prahran Market: 7am-5pm

Preston Market: 8am-6pm

Foostcray Market: 7am-7pm

POST OFFICES

Australia Post has confirmed no local mail or parcel deliveries will take place, including Express Post items.

Normal hours will revert on Saturday.

SHOPPING CENTRE OPENING HOURS

Melbourne Central: 10am-6pm

Melbourne Emporium: 10am-6pm

Highpoint: 9am-9pm

Chadstone: 9am-9pm

Eastland: 10am-9pm

Northland: 10am-5pm

The Glen: 10am-5pm

Pacific Epping: 10am-5pm

Pacific Werribee: 10am-5pm

Westfield stores: Geelong: 10am-5pm*

*Some stores and restaurants trading hours may vary.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Public transport services will operate to a Saturday timetable, but some services may be altered or will not run.

Metro Trains: Services will run to a Saturday timetable. Night Network services will run as normal.

Yarra Trams: Trams will run to a Saturday frequency from first to last tram, and Night Network will run as normal. This means that if your tram normally runs every seven minutes, it will continue to do so. However times may differ slightly from the usual Saturday timetable.

Extended free tram stops: The Free Tram Zone has been extended to the MCG from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 28 September.

They include:

Routes 48 and 75 — all stops from the Free Tram Zone to and including Stop 11 Jolimont Station

Route 70 — all stops from the Free Tram Zone to and including Stop 7C MCG/Melbourne Arena

Metropolitan buses: Most services will run to a Saturday timetable, but some services may be altered or will not run.

V/Line: V/Line trains and Night Coach services will run to a Saturday timetable.

Federation Square: Open 24 hours

Melbourne Museum: Open 10am-5pm

Melbourne Star Observation Wheel: Open 11am -10pm

Melbourne Zoo: Open 9am-5pm

Healsville Sanctuary: Open 9am-5pm

Werribee Open Range Zoo: Open 9am-5pm

Royal Botanical Gardens: Open 7.30am-5pm

Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium: Open 9:30am-6pm

Old Melbourne Gaol: Open 9.30am-5pm

Royal Melbourne Show: Open 9.30am-9.00pm
