What you’ll pay for food and drinks at Melbourne’s AFL stadiums

Footy fans won’t have to cop paying $6.20 for a pie at Marvel Stadium like they do at the MCG, but the price of beer and coffee will rise.

Footy fans are set to be served the cheapest pies at an AFL venue when they take their seats at Marvel Stadium this season.

A week after the Herald Sun revealed footy fans faced a price hike on popular food items at the MCG, Marvel Stadium is set to announce the cost of chips, pies and hot dogs will be frozen at last year’s prices.

The cost of pies will remain $4.50, compared to $6.20 at the MCG.

But the price of a Carlton Draught will increase by $1, a coffee and 600ml soft drinks will cost 50c more and a bottle of water will set you back $6 instead of $5.50.

It will be more expensive to buy pies, hot chips, bottled water and soft drink at the MCG than Marvel Stadium.

Hot dogs will be $6 and coffees $5.50 at both venues.

New food outlets will also be unveiled at the recently redeveloped Marvel Stadium, including Gami Chicken, Hunky Dory, 8Bit burgers, 400 Gradi Pronto, EARL Canteen and Yamas Souvlaki.

They will all open for Saturday’s first game of the season at the stadium between North Melbourne and Fremantle.

The price of most beers will rise at Marvel Stadium, including Asahi and Peroni up $1.50 to $15.50, Great Northern from $10.90 to $11.50, Carlton Draught rising from $10.50 to $11.50 and craft beers up 30 cents to $13.60.

House wines will remain at last year’s price of $11.50.

AFL executive Kylie Rogers said affordability for footy fans was a priority.

“It is literally cheaper to buy a pie at Marvel Stadium than it is at a servo,’’ she said.

Ms Rogers said the AFL had the hip pockets of fans in mind in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis.

“We’re thrilled that we can freeze the price of the footy favourites to keep it as affordable as possible,’ she said.

“Our stadium food pricing paired with the ticketing price freeze, family ticketing offer and no transaction fees at Marvel Stadium continues to ensure access and affordability for footy fans.’’
