Warrandyte by-election candidate Richard Griffith-Jones vows to ban drag storytime if elected

A grandfather running in the upcoming by-election would ban drag queen storytime in public spaces and “protect” females from “radical LGBTIQA+ gender-fluid ideology” if elected.

DRAG storytime would be banned across the state under a plan by a new candidate for the Warrandyte by-election.

Grandfather Richard Griffith-Jones will contest the seat for Family First at the August 26 election.

If elected he has promised to introduce legislation to ban drag queen storytime in public venues and pause bi-partisan net zero policies.

“Parents are sick of their kids being indoctrinated at school, they are tired of politicians’ ideology driving up their cost of living,” Mr Griffith-Jones said.

“Daniel Andrews and John Pesutto’s support for sexualised gender-fluid drag queens in Parliament House reading to children was a red line for most Warrandyte families and is emblematic of the push to indoctrinate children.

“The question for Warrandyte families is who will protect your family from the cost-of-living crisis driven by the Labor, Liberal, Greens and Teal rush away from affordable and reliable energy supplies?” Mr Griffith-Jones said.

“Who will protect girls and women’s sports and private spaces from the Liberal’s and Labor’s support of radical LGBTIQA+ gender-fluid ideology?

“Sadly the answer is not John Pesutto,” Mr Griffith-Jones said.

Liberal candidate Nicole Werner is expected to retain the seat the party has held since 1988.

It currently holds a comfortable 4.2 per cent margin.

The ALP have ruled out running in the election, but the Greens are expected to pick up a significant number of votes.

Family First could also take some conservative votes from the Liberal Party.

Mr Griffith-Jones pick up 3.05 per cent of first preference votes when he ran in the neighbouring electorate of Ringwood at November’s state election.
