Visit Victoria boss Peter Bingeman has announced his resignation, with the tourism and major events chief to stand down after the Presidents Cup.
Mr Bingeman will vacate the role from December 17 after overseeing the founding of the company in 2016.
Over that time the state’s visitor economy has expanded to a record $31 billion supporting 232,000 jobs across the state.
“It has been a privilege to lead Visit Victoria and help grow our tourism and events industries over the past three and a half years,” Mr Bingeman said.
“I am honoured to have led a team that has made a significant impact on Victoria’s visitor economy and reputation as a global events state, and I’m confident that the future of tourism is bright.”
It comes just weeks before golfing iconic Tiger Woods is set to headline the Presidents Cup as a playing captain at Royal Melbourne.
The Cup will be the last major event in the state before Mr Bingeman steps down from the role.
“As its first CEO, Peter has steered Visit Victoria to become a leading tourism and events company that has delivered record growth in Victoria’s visitor economy,” Visit Victoria chair Janet Whiting said.
“The board of Visit Victoria thanks Peter for his leadership and wishes him the very best in his next endeavours.”
