Men stabbed in violent brawl at Somerton function centre
A vicious stabbing after a suburban music concert has left a man fighting for life, with several others injured in the fracas.

A man is fighting for life after an ugly brawl broke out at a Somerton function centre early this morning, leaving a total of eight people injured.
Police were called to La Mirage Reception centre on the Hume Hwy about 1.50am on Saturday morning.
Rami Wassouf, a witness at the scene, said the fight broke out after a Fares Karam concert at the venue.
“It broke out in the foyer after it finished,” Mr Wassouf said.
“I tried to stop some of the people bashing each other.
“One person had a knife and he started stabbing people.”
Eight men suffered serious injuries, seven were assessed by paramedics, and six were taken to hospital.
All six men suffered upper body injuries and were transported to various hospitals in various conditions.
A 29-year-old man remains in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital this morning.
Another man in his 20s and one in his 30s were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition, and a man in his 40s was taken to the Northern Hospital, also in a stable condition.
A man in his 40s and one in his 50s were taken to The Austin Hospital, but were later discharged.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said that a number of people were reportedly kicked out of the venue prior to the fight.
“Police are looking into reports that a number of people were ejected from the organised event before they returned, and a fight broke out,” Sgt Julie-Anne Newman said.

A crime scene has been established at the venue and an investigation is underway.
No charges have been laid at this stage.
