More than a million Victorians have signed up for short-term vehicle registration payments a year after the scheme began.
The Andrews Government first introduced three-month and six-month registration at the start of 2018 and since then 1.3 million people, a quarter of all vehicle registrations, have signed up.

Overall, 770,743 car owners chose the shortest registration period possible while another 542,693 chose to make their payments every six months.
Statistics also show drivers in the City of Casey were most likely to take up the scheme followed closely by Craigieburn, Pakenham and Frankston.
Acting Premier Tim Pallas said the first year of short-term registrations had been a huge success.
“Having to find more than $800 once a year puts a lot of people under financial pressure — by introducing shorter term payments, we’ve given people a chance to factor more manageable payments into their family budgets,” he said.
The program has been most popular with Victorians aged between 26 and 35, with 54 per cent of those signed on male.
The average three-month registration costs motorists $200.20 while a six-month registration is valued at about $400.40.
Drivers can also switch back to annual payments, costing $800.80 on average, whenever they choose.
VicRoads Chief Executive Michael Malouf said: “With shorter registration periods and the online services provided through myVicRoads, we are helping make life easier for Victorians.”
