Victorian weather: Wild wind coming for coastlines
Get ready, wild winds of more than 100km/h are set to smash coastal areas across Victoria, whipping up waves close to seven metres. Here’s where the worst of it will hit.

Victoria will be battered by severe winds as waves reach close to seven metres in the state’s west.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning as strong and squally winds hit coastlines.
Wilsons Promontory copped a 120km/h gust early this morning and there could be more to come.

Swells of 6.8m hit Portland, in Victoria’s southwest, at about 12pm today.
The BOM’s warning is in place for East Gippsland, West and South Gippsland, as well as central, southwest, north central and northeast areas of Victoria.
Westerly winds will strengthen ahead of a cold front which will pass across southern Victoria tonight. Wind will shift squally south-westerly following the front,” a BOM spokesman said.
Frankston, Warragul, Wonthaggi, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale, Moe, Bairnsdale and Orbost are likely to be affected.
The SES says people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure loose items around your house and keep clear of fallen power lines.
