Victorian weather: Summery days in store for Easter long weekend

Victorians can bask in sunny conditions over the Easter long weekend as the temperature climbs to 30 degrees on Saturday.

Autumn Weather Outlook: La Nina climate driver set to continue

The heat is on in Victoria with parts of the state set to soar above 30 degrees over the Easter long weekend.

A burst of warm weather will deliver three straight days of summery conditions.

Melbourne is due to reach a high of 27C on Thursday, 28C on Friday and 30C on Saturday before a cool change comes through early Sunday morning.

On Easter Sunday, Mildura is tipped to record the state’s top temperatures of 35C.

The weather bureau said several hot days would be followed by a return to more seasonal temperatures for most of the state.

Forecaster Ilana Cherny said the run of hot days was due to a high-pressure system bringing warm air south to Victoria.

She said it was not out of the ordinary for April.

“We do sometimes get a few 30-degree days in April, we didn’t get any last year but we had three days above 30 degrees in 2019, so it’s warmer than average but I wouldn’t say unusual.”

Melbourne is set to be 22C Sunday, 19C Monday and 20C Tuesday.
