Schoolies have been warned “unruly behaviour” will not be tolerated in the week ahead.
From Saturday, police will saturate the Surf Coast, Mornington Peninsula and Bass Coast regions to monitor school-leavers during their week-long celebrations.
Police will be on the lookout for alcohol and drug-fuelled violence as well as anyone caught lighting flares.
Increased patrols will take place along the foreshores, licensed venues and accommodation areas to ensure public safety.
Priority Communities Division Acting Commander Murray warned there will be serious consequences for those who act out.
“Like every year, our focus will be on ensuring a safe environment for everyone, including school leavers, local residents and the broader community,” Assistant Commander Fraser said.
“While the majority of schoolies do the right thing, we are continuing to see a small number of school leavers involved in dangerous behaviour.
“We will not tolerate any behaviour that negatively impacts the community.”
Last year schoolies wreaked havoc on the Rye foreshore.
