Van driver dead, passenger fighting for life after crash with truck at Bulleen in Melbourne’s east
A driver of a van has died and their passenger is in a critical condition after a collision with a truck in Melbourne’s east on Monday morning.

A woman has died and her female passenger is in a critical condition following a collision with a food delivery truck in Bulleen just after 5.30am on Monday morning.
The driver, a 53-year-old Bulleen mother of three, died at the scene while her 63-year old Tarneit passenger was pulled from the wreckage by a witness to the crash.
The driver of the truck, a 28-year-old Wollert man, was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe the driver may have run a red light causing the accident at the intersection of Bulleen and Manningham roads with emergency services still conducting investigations.
Closures are still in place and expected to remain throughout much of the day
Commuters are being asked to avoid the area throughout the morning with emergency services and lane closures set to remain for some time.
Those trying to reach the Eastern Freeway should use Thompsons Road or Doncaster Road, while those travelling west towards Heidelberg should detour via Doncaster and Burke roads.

Social media users on X said the intersection was difficult to navigate.
“Not surprising (the) area is a mess,” one user said.
Another posted: “That intersection is a dogs breakfast”.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
