SPRING carnival punters will be able to travel to Flemington by land, air and sea this weekend, with Uber expanding its service to cover helicopters and boats along the Yarra River.
For a limited time users of the ride-sharing app will be able to sign up for UberBoat and UberChopper trips as they celebrate the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Boat will be leaving from the floating pontoon outside Melbourne’s Exhibition Centre on both AAMI Victoria Derby Day and Emirates Stakes Day.
They can be booked from 10.15am through the app for a $15 flat fare and 1 2 hour river cruise will dock near the Elms Gate.
Helicopter trips will be also available across all race days and can be booked from punters using the app near the Rose Gate.
Trips back to the Exhibition Centre will be $1000, with six seats available and include a limo transfer to the helipad.
Uber Victoria State Manager Lucas Groeneveld said the company had built on positive feedback from last year’s Spring Carnival.
“With more than 300,000 punters set to flock to Flemington over the next week, we’ve pulled out all the stops to give Melburnians some new and fun ways to get to-and-from the track,” he said.
“While it’s clear choppers won’t suit every budget, we’re tipping a 10 minute flight back to the city with some mates will be a hit with racegoers who have had a great day on the punt.”
Hundreds of Uber drivers will also be offering regular services to and from Flemington, with three separate zone for easy picks ups and drop offs.
