A toddler has suffered what police have described as “life-altering injuries” in an attack in the Latrobe Valley.
Detectives from the Central Gippsland sexual offences and child abuse investigation unit say the 22-month-old was taken to a hospital in Traralgon on November 12 at 10.45pm.
A number of adults have since been spoken to about why the young girl was earlier found unresponsive in an Ashworth Drive property.
She was at the time assessed as having life-threatening injuries and is now rated as being in a serious but stable condition in a Melbourne hospital.
“It is unclear if the injuries to the young girl will have permanent or long-lasting impact on her life,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
Major Crime Scene officers executed a warrant at the home in Ashworth Drive on Tuesday and took away several items.
A number of people have been spoken to about what they know.
Detectives have asked for anyone with information about what happened to the little girl to come forward.
