‘A show of force’: Toby Mitchell reveals Mongols club leathers and massive gold ring

Underworld figure Toby Mitchell’s union with the Mongols bikie club has taken another step forward, with the ex-Bandidos enforcer showing off his new colours on social media.

Underworld figure Toby Mitchell’s union with the Mongols bikie club has taken another step forward with the ex-Bandidos enforcer posting pictures of his new colours on social media.

Mitchell, who left the rival Bandidos bikie club in 2013, has now teamed up with the Mongols, and is planning to join a gang “run” in a high-profile move to announce his membership.

He posted pictures last night on Instagram of a patched Mongols vest, and belt and recently a gold Mongols ring.

The Herald Sun revealed earlier this month Mitchell was joining the bikie gang.

It is not known if Mitchell has taken up a ranking position at the club, but the veteran hardman has posted a picture of himself wearing Mongols colours on social media recently.

Some outlaw motorcycle gang ­experts doubted that the controversial gangster would ever become a “patched” member of another outlaw bikie club, considering that he had been the national sergeant-at-arms of the Bandidos club.

Mitchell was a former national sergeant-at-arms of the Bandidos.

But Mitchell has been seen at the Mongols’ Port Melbourne clubhouse numerous times over the past few months.

A source told the Herald Sun: “By posting pictures of himself wearing Mongols gear, this is a show of force. It’s telling everyone that these are the people that have got my back and will look after me.”

The move is expected to prompt a strong response from Victoria Police in an effort to quell any potential escalation of rivalry among gangs.

Mitchell, who has survived two shooting attempts on his life, has been among the most infamous crime figures in Melbourne in the past decade.

He is a keen Instagram user and often posts pictures of his activities to his 34,000 followers.

Mitchell has come under the spotlight over several incidents and court appearances since he was last released from prison in 2017.

He was also among the first Victorians to be slapped with one of the Firearms Prohibition Orders recently introduced to allow police to conduct warrantless searches of those who have been served with them.

As a former Bandidos boss with known underworld associates, Mitchell has remained of interest to the Australian Federal Police’s anti-gangs squad and Victoria Police’s anti-bikie Echo Taskforce.

Mitchell has also had to deal with tensions within the underworld over the past two years, but appears unfazed by any potential threat.

The Mongols established a chapter in Melbourne in conjunction with a national “patch-over’’ of Australian-based club the Finks. The majority of the latter’s members crossed over to the international club in 2013.

That same year, Mitchell quit the Bandidos.

Mitchell was shot outside Doherty’s Gym in Brunswick in November 2011. He was hit five times and nearly died.

Police investigated two underworld heavies over the shooting, which occurred in broad daylight, but no charges were laid.

In 2013, Mitchell survived another shooting after he and other Bandidos members were ambushed by Hells Angels in Melton.
