Melbourne bikie Toby Mitchell is out of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang.

Mitchell, who had been the gang’s president, is believed to have met with club leaders on Friday and is now a free agent.

He joined the club in 2019 and was appointed to the top job a year later.

Mitchell declined to comment when contacted today.

One source said the decision was amicable and that Mitchell - one of Melbourne’s best-connected underworld figures - had walked on his own terms.

But others said he would not be welcomed back.

The Herald Sun has been told Nick “The Knife” Forbes is now national president and Phil Main is the national sergeant-at-arms.

Toby Mitchell posted a cryptic quote to his instagram story on Friday.

“Sit me at the table they are talking about self-growth, money, and goals,” it said.

“Not other people.”

He posted the “100” emoji, which often means someone agrees 100 per cent.

Mitchell is due to return to the County Court on April 7 to contest a two month sentence he received over a pub slap during his Echuca birthday bash.

The 47-year-old is a former sergeant-at-arms of the Bandidos and has been shot twice in the past decade.

In one of the incidents, he was ambushed outside that club’s Weston St, Brunswick, headquarters by two gunmen.

He survived but the attack has left him with some on-going health issues.

Despite being a focus for police attention, Mitchell has had a number of assault-related charges in recent years.

It has been a turbulent period for the Mongols with some key members arrested on high-level charges as the Echo taskforce puts them under heavy scrutiny.
