Thugs on the run after attacking man inside Keysborough home
A MAN sleeping next to his wife was brutally bludgeoned in the head with a hammer in Keysborough, with police investigating links to a similar incident several months ago. Four offenders remain on the run.

A YOUNG man has rushed to the aid of his 49-year-old neighbour viciously beaten to the head with a hammer inside his Keysborough home overnight.
The victim’s wife ran “crying and screaming” to the good Samaritan’s home, alerting the man and his father to the bloody horror which had unfolded in her bedroom.
She was asleep next to her husband when he was bludgeoned in the head with the weapon.
Four adults and a one-year-old child were inside the home at the time.
“There was blood everywhere. The man was holding his head trying to keep it in,” said the dad.
“My son was holding him and taking directions from paramedics on the phone.
“It was very hard to get inside because there was smashed glass everywhere.”
Police say three balaclava-clad thugs entered the Henderson Road home about 2am.
They fled the home in a getaway car driven by an accomplice.
All four offenders remain on the run.
“My daughter woke to someone screaming. She woke us up. Shortly after the woman was knocking on our door,” the neighbour said.
“She was crying and screaming and asking for help. She looked traumatised.”
Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said all three bandits were believed to have been armed with metal weapons.
“There would be nothing more terrifying for the victim,” he said.
“It would have been terrifying for the child and females in the house as well.”
Police have revealed a similar incident occurred at the home months earlier.
They are investigating possible links between the crimes, which both involved demands for money.
Police are searching for a dark coloured SUV used as a getaway car.
The victim was rushed to The Alfred with serious but non-life threatening injuries, and his condition has improved.
No one else was injured.
Police remain at the home, which had its front glass window smashed in.
