When he’s not in heated clashes with Eddie McGuire or the AFL, Sydney chairman Andrew Pridham is a more wholesome kind of guy.
He loves Paul Kelly, both the singer and the former Swans footballer, and his passion for gravy has seen him partake in a humorous modern day reel to rate his favourite.
“I’m obsessed by gravy,’’ Pridham admitted to Page 13.
“I wouldn’t say I’m overly obesessed but I’m a huge Paul Kelly fan and it’s Gravy Day on Saturday. Paul Kelly the singer went to the same school as I did.
“His brother was my brother’s best friend. Paul Kelly the footballer is one of my great friends and at the Swans we always celebrate Gravy Day. Our business sells a lot of gravy — we’ve brought all the connections together.”
Pridham is the Group Vice Chairman of MA Financial Group and part of its hotel management business is Redcape Hospitality which operates 31 pubs across Australia’s east coast.
Pridham and some colleagues have rated their top three with a gravy taste test.
He also intends to watch the movie How to Make Gravy on Gravy Day.
“I like a veal or chicken schnitzel and in our pubs the parmigiana is the no.1 selling dish,’’ Pridham said.
“Unfortunately Paul Kelly is a Crows supporter but he’s also a big Norwood supporter and I’m the no.1 supporter of Norwood. He used to have a kick with Paul Kelly when he was in Melbourne.”
