The Source: Allies test the water for Josh Frydenberg in Kooyong

It’s hardly a surprise that political phone polling is taking place in Kooyong, but the fact some questions canvass views on Josh Frydenberg is raising eyebrows.

Political phone polling is taking place in Kooyong. No surprise in this, except that two of the said poll questions canvass views on the former treasurer and local member, Josh Frydenberg — in a poll conducted by people who hope to tempt him back to office.

Historically blue-rinsed Kooyong fell from the Liberals to Dr Monique Ryan in the Teals wave of the 2022 election.

Speculations have suggested that Amelia Hamer, a fresh face and the grand-niece of former premier Sir Rupert Hamer, might seek the Liberals’ Kooyong pre-selection.

But do these pointed polling questions imply Frydenberg could be convinced to return to politics?

Is he coming back?

Considered a future party leader, Frydenberg is now an investment banker, and has said that he sees no prospect of a return before the next election.

Yet in a recent Sky News interview, he invoked that old line about “never say never”.
