Labor finally waking up to cost of living crunch

Labor is putting its money where its mouth is to help the people it cares about: hungry lobbyists and their corporate paymasters.

Could Labor finally be waking up to cost of living crunch?

As everyone knows by now, the next election is going to be all about easing the cost-of-living pressures for those of us who are struggling to make ends meet — or to put it in the strange and beautiful language of our elected officials: “Aussies who are doing it tough”.

Sadly for Albo, according to a recent poll, fewer than one-in-four of us can think of a single thing this government has done to make our lives better.

Now news has reached The Source that shows Labor is putting its money where its mouth is to help the people it cares about: hungry lobbyists and their corporate paymasters.

Compare this.

According to couple of invites slipped to The Source, back in May 2023 Labor held a dinner in Canberra (including pre-dinner drinks) with the Prime Minister and his ministers, hosted by Penny Wong that included an address from the big man himself as well Treasurer Jim Chalmers and a vote-of-thanks from Albo’s deputy Richard “Call me DPM” Marles.

Cost: $5000 a pop for strangers, $4000 if you were a member of the Federal Labor Business Forum.

According to the second invite, there’s another Prime Minister and Ministry Dinner soon, this time being put on by the Forum in Melbourne (also with pre-dinner drinks).

How much would you expect to pay for this feast?

Tickets start at $1500 for general entry, while a VIP seat will set you back $2000.

Not only that!

If you can find 10 friends you can get a table for the knockdown price of $1400 each.

And you’ve eight mates who can find $16,000 between them – that’s $2000 each – you can be hosted by a minister!

From $5000 down to $1500 a head in just 18 months!

Who says Labor isn’t listening to hardworking Aussies doing it tough?

New allegiance in lord mayoral race

A surprise name has popped up on Nick Reece’s councillor ticket in the City of Melbourne election next month.

Digital marketing whiz Lisa Teh was Arron Wood’s star running mate four years ago but this time has been nominated in the Team Nick Reece line-up.

Ms Teh told The Source that politics “can be a dirty game — something I’ve unfortunately experienced first hand” but wouldn’t elaborate further.

“It’s easy to lose sight of its true purpose, which is to serve the people.”

Mr Wood and Ms Teh ran a strong campaign in the 2020 election and finished second after preferences to the successful Capp-Reece ticket.

Ms Teh co-founded the CODI digital marketing business in Cremorne and is editor-in-chief of lifestyle, beauty and fashion website Couturing.

Queen Victoria Market trader Michael Caiafa has also nominated to run again. Mr Caiafa was elected in 2016 only to serve 139 days – the unfortunate victim of a recount after an elected councillor was declared ineligible.
