Weddings come in all shapes and sizes and we’re told of an unusual, hastily convened recent one involving a Melbourne mover and shaker.

It seems the groom and his beloved didn’t bother with inviting guests and other such expensive and time-consuming conventions, instead settling for a brisk betrothal carried out in minutes by a justice of the peace.

The reason for such lack of formality?

Well, a Source source says the happy couple then headed off to a conservative foreign jurisdiction where cohabitation outside of wedlock is not the done thing.

Their short notice departure came amid all sorts of rumblings about missing assets and money owed.

It’s fair to say there are a few people around town prepared to wait as long it takes for the honeymoon to end, even if that’s a period of years.
