A POPULAR Mornington Peninsula winery has gone up in flames, causing panicked evacuations and resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage.

A POPULAR Mornington Peninsula winery has gone up in flames, causing panicked evacuations and hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage.

A small building near the cellar door and restaurant at Ten Minutes by Tractor winery initially caught fire about 3.30pm.

DFO CRASH INVESTIGATION WRAPS UP

The building is believed to have been used as a storage room.

The blaze sent thick smoke billowing, with areas around the winery blanketed.

It’s believed up to 40 people were evacuated.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Ambulance officers treated one staff member for minor burns after attempting to evacuate people.

Ten Minutes by Tractor is a popular winery and vineyard that has operated for just under 30 years.
