A distressed family is recovering after a terrifying home invasion in which one family member tried to fight off a gang of masked intruders.
Police say three masked men, one armed with a garden stake, broke into a Tasman Crescent home about 4am and stole a set of car keys as another man stood guard outside.
An occupant of the house confronted the intruders, and a fight broke out before the four men fled in the victim’s car, a blue 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer with the registration number 2JT 6IE.

The shaken family stayed inside with close friends today.
Neighbours told the Herald Sun they had no idea that anything had happened overnight until they saw the street teeming with police this morning.
One female resident, who didn’t want to be named, told the Herald Sun that her daughter heard banging doors and shouting last night.
“She said that she heard lots of noise and screaming during the night,” the resident said.
“I’m surprised that this has happened to them, they’re a lovely family and their son loves his car.”
The resident said that the stolen car belongs to the family’s adult son.
“I always see him working so hard, he’s so nice and so quiet, it’s quite upsetting that this has happened to such a good person,” she said.
“He always keeps that car in the same place, and it’s a beautiful car.”
Police are investigating and urge anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
