Box Hill Hospital will expand into a $320m private development that’s been approved for the suburb.
The hospital, part of Eastern Health, will be the anchor tenant for Wellington Health – a state-of-the-art medical and education precinct tipped to create more than 10,000 jobs.
APH Holding is planning a staged development at the 12-22 Wellington St site over the next six years.
The 20-level building will feature more than 30,000sq m of medical facilities aiming to provide a one-stop solution for patients.
A permit for stage 1 was approved by Whitehorse Council in August.
“Our intention is to develop projects that add to the community and create jobs, and it is exciting to reach the milestone of securing a major anchor tenant for Wellington Health,” APH Holding chief executive Johnson Zhang said.
“With the planning and construction of the Suburban Rail Loop and the Box Hill Station, the medical demand in and around Box Hill will be stronger than ever.”
“It is APH Holding’s vision to provide these services for the growing population of the southeastern corridor of Melbourne.”
