ALMOST $4 million has been promised to schools in the Eildon electorate by the Coalition, but not a cent for struggling Yarra Junction Primary School.
Education Minister Martin Dixon visited the electorate last week with Liberal candidate for Eildon Cindy McLeish, and Nationals candidate for Eildon Jim Child to announce $1 million for Woori Yallock Primary School and $2.8 million for Mansfield Secondary College if the Coalition Government was re-elected.
“We are proud to be delivering 24 new schools and upgrades to hundreds of schools,” Mr Dixon said.

But the Coalition failed to match Labor’s election promise of $2 million for Yarra Junction Primary School, to fix the crumbling school that hasn’t had any significant state funding for 35 years.
Ms McLeish said Woori Yallock Primary School had very substantial needs identified through a maintenance audit.
When asked if Yarra Junction Primary could still receive funding she said: “We have only just started our election commitments”.
Ms McLeish, previously told Lilydale and Yarra Valley Leader she was fighting for fundingfor Yarra Junction Primary School and said she stood by that commitment.
School council president Brian Westlake said he was happy that Woori Yallock had secured funding, but they still desperately needed funding.
Mr Westlake said Ms McLeish had phoned him on the morning of the Woori Yallock announcement to assure him Yarra Junction had not been forgotten.
But he said they were still waiting to hear if their school would be promised an upgrade.
“We are, as a community, sitting here waiting patiently,” Mr Westlake said.
