Daniel Andrews: Labor will keep delivering and fighting for fairness

Victorian voters have again given us the greatest of gifts and entrusted us with that greatest of responsibilities — and we won’t let them down, writes Daniel Andrews.

Labor will again form a 'strong, stable majority government': Andrews

Every four years, voters are called on to make a decision about who will lead our state and who will write Victoria’s next chapter.

Back in 2014, Victorian voters gave us the greatest of gifts, and entrusted us with that greatest of responsibilities.

I promised that we wouldn’t let them down. That we would be a government that stayed true to its values, and true to our word. That’s why, four years on, we now have a TAFE system that affords young people the optimism and the opportunities they deserve.

We now have an ambulance system that is there for the people we love when they need it most.

We now have thousands of new classrooms, and hundreds of thousands of kids with the chances in life they should.

We now have a family violence prevention system that supports women and saves lives.

We have a policy academy that’s full, and 3,135 new frontline officers to help keep our communities safe.

We have 29 level crossings that are gone for good.

We have the biggest transformation of rail in 40 years underway beneath our city.

And we have a strong economy that’s grown nearly 400,000 new jobs.

We took that record to the people of Victoria at this election.

But just as importantly, we offered a positive plan for the future of our state.

NERVOUS WAIT FOR GREENS AS CITY SEATS IN DOUBT

And Victorians said yes.

Yes to more schools and fewer level crossings.

Yes to 1,100 new nurses.

Yes to respect for our paramedics.

Yes to backing local jobs.

Yes to the Suburban Rail Loop.

Yes to solar panels, and yes to cheaper power.

Yes to three-year-old kinder.

Yes to free dental. Yes to free TAFE.

Yes to a government that says what it does, and does what it says.

And yes to our positive plan for Victoria’s future.

A TALE OF TWO ELECTION PARTIES

Four years ago, I made a solemn promise to the people of Victoria. And four years on, I make that very same pledge: we will not let you down.

Our Labor Government will keep investing in our schools and our hospitals.

We’ll keep building in our suburbs and our regions.

We will keep standing up for jobs, and for working people.

We will keep fighting for fairness.

And we will keep delivering for all Victorians.
