SOUTHLAND SHOPPERS, WORKERS PROTEST NEW PARKING FEES
Westfield last month introduced parking fees for staff, who will have to shell out $5 each day.
Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association state secretary Michael Donovan said workers could not afford the $1300 a year that parking would now cost.
“We have female shop assistants working at night who used to have safe, convenient parking at their workplace,” Mr Donovan said.
“They will have to find parking in surrounding suburbs and that brings risks. I will be asking WorkSafe to look at issues like safe lighting, and other health and safety matters.”
