Even Snoop Dogg has discovered the trauma us Aussie’s live with in Magpie swooping season.
The US rapper shared a post of a young boy fanging down a suburban Aussie street on his scooter in floods of tears, screaming as he was getting hammered on his helmet by the Australian native bird.
The caption read: “Therapist: So when did the trauma start?” #scarred.
Any Aussie knows the fear of the head peck when Magpie swooping season starts.
The running through a park’s oval terrified, going the long way on the walk to school. Riding your bike with one eye to the sky in trepidation.
My dearly departed grandmother was pecked at so badly on the head as she walked to school each morning in Spring by the black and white swooper as a young girl she had ornithophobia. Her fear of birds caused intergenerational Magpie trauma. I too remember the fear of a magpie untying a bow on my ponytail it came so close. And if you are wearing sparkles or metallics- watch out!
Because this time in Australia’s Spring’s mating season is worse than the Alfred Hitchcock movie.
Even the dogs on the leash aren’t safe. Supposedly their alert tales resembles snakes in some primal part of the birdy’s brain.
While the smart Maggie’s defending their nests are the most terrifying, even those a-hole Myna birds are getting in on the act these days.
Welcome to Australia, where no one is safe.
