The chill factor will hang around Victoria today as icy conditions make for an uncomfortable commute to work.

Although Melbourne is set to receive about 1mm of rain today, that doesn’t mean the weather won’t be freezing.

At 7.30am, it was 7.1C in the CBD but the apparent temperature was sitting at 4.6C.

If you thought that was bad, out at Essendon Airport it dipped to 6C at 6.30am with an apparent temperature of a bone-chilling 1C.

It will be a mostly cloudy day across Melbourne, heading for a top of 12C in the CBD, with showers mostly in the eastern suburbs and the Dandenongs.

We can expect more cold mornings through the week and into the weekend.

Meanwhile, skiers were happy in the Alps, with Falls Creek measuring the coldest part of the state today, with a low of -2C after 8.30am.
